IDP children will be granted with the laptops

On April 14, 2010 on mother language day the winners of a calligraphy competition were revealed in the manuscript national centre; the winners were granted with the presents.  IDP winner children were awarded with the personal computers by the minister of Refugees and Accommodation of Georgia Koba Subeliani.

Koba Subeliani held a meeting with IDPs

The Minister of Refugees and Accommodation of Georgia Koba Subeliani together with the MRA staff holds meetings with IDPs on a daily basis. Today the minister visited IDPs from Abkhazia residing in the former building of professional school located on Artvini Street # 53.

73 IDP families, 179 persons live in the above mentioned building. The building was roofed, electrical wires were changed, internal communication system was arranged and living spaces were transferred to IDPs ownership. All mentioned activities are implemented on the basis of the president’s order regarding privatization and rehabilitation of IDPs’ living spaces.

The minister declared during the meeting with the IDPs that there are more activities that need to be implemented step by step:”This building has already become IDPs’ property. The building was roofed, water supply and electrical systems were repaired, but still some other activities need to be carried out in the building. IDPs live in better conditions; we will continue to implement required activities step by step.”

DPs asked the minister to visit them more frequently. Bezhan Rekhviashvili, IDP from Abkhazia: “Improvement of IDPs living conditions is a very good event. Living spaces were legalized, roofing activities has recently finished and installation process of individual meters is ongoing. Sewerage and electricity systems will be repaired. We are very grateful. Their support is very important. We will be happy if the Minister will visit us more frequently.”

    The “Transparency International – Georgia” that is a member of an Advisory Council of the Coalition “for IDPs rights”, has implemented monitoring in 14 places of the compact settlement of IDPs, who were forced to leave their homes during the war in August.
